How many game modes does Hood Warfare 2 have?

Six. Turf War, GangBang, Chaos, Hit A Lick, Destroy The Block and Chain Snatch all shipped with the 8 October 2026 launch, and each one changes what “playing well” means. Two modes ignore kills almost entirely, one removes teamwork on purpose, and one gives you a single life per round.

Chain SnatchChains collected

How does Turf War work?

You score by holding ground, not by killing. Gangs fight for control of turf around the map, and your gang earns points for the territory it holds — so pushing the other team off their ground matters more than chasing isolated eliminations. The in-game description reads: “Take over the block. Hold your corners. Show everybody whose hood this really is.”

How does GangBang work?

It is a classic team shootout: two gangs go head to head and the gang with the most kills wins. There are no objectives to protect and no baggage to carry, which makes it the cleanest mode for learning how a weapon actually handles. In-game: “Two gangs. One mission. Wipe the opps off the block before they do the same to you.”

How does Chaos work?

Every player is on their own. There is no loyalty to a gang in this mode, and the highest kill count comes out on top — so teammates are not teammates. It rewards players who can win repeated one-on-ones and disengage before a third player arrives. In-game: “No crews. No allies. No rules. Everybody can get it.”

How does Hit A Lick work?

It is a bag run: take the bag from the enemy’s hood and bring it back to yours, while your crew watches your own bag at the same time. Teams that only attack lose, because the enemy is running the exact same play in the other direction.

In-game: “Snatch The Bag from the enemy hood and make it back in one piece. Don’t get caught slippin’.”

How does Destroy The Block work?

One gang has the bomb and the other has to stop them. Plant or defuse to win, and there is only one life per round — so it plays like a series of short no-respawn rounds rather than a continuous fight. In-game: “One crew’s got the bomb. The other crew’s protecting their turf. No respawns. Every round counts.”

How does Chain Snatch work?

Getting the kill is only half the job. Enemies drop chains when they die, and you have to snatch them to earn points — while beating the other gang to your own teammates’ chains. Kills without collection score nothing. In-game: “Drop the opps. Snatch their chain. Secure it before they get it back.”

Which map should I play each mode on?

Any of them. All four launch maps — Downtown, Suburbs, The Trenches and Chicago Mall — support all six modes, so mode choice never restricts your map choice. Pick the layout you want to learn and swap modes on it freely.

Is there a seventh mode?

The game files reference a mode called Rush, with its own HUD widget, objective actor and minimap art, tied to a Stripmall map. It is not selectable in the retail build, so treat it as cut or future content rather than a playable mode.

What do the internal mode names mean?

If you dig into the game’s files or datamining threads you will see names like Conquest, TeamDeathmatch and FreeForAll. Those are the developer’s internal identifiers, and the game’s own string table maps them onto the public names — Conquest is Turf War, TeamDeathmatch is GangBang, FreeForAll is Chaos, CaptureTheFlag is Hit A Lick, SearchAndDestroy is Destroy The Block and KillConfirmed is Chain Snatch.
